The Property and Evidence Unit strives to maintain evidence in the same condition as received and to preserve the integrity of the evidence being held for court exhibits. Property Officers will protect and safeguard all evidence under their control Reasonable effort will be made to return found property and evidence that has been authorized for release, to the rightful owner. Disposal of evidence will be handled according to applicable law.

Property is returned by appointment only during the following hours:

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7:00AM – 3:00PM

Property is released to the rightful owner or their designee with proper authorization and a valid government issued photo identification (such as a driver’s license, ID card or passport).

Property that is turned in as found (with the exception of firearms) may be claimed by appointment at the Beverly Hills Police Department. To claim your lost property, you must provide proof of ownership and present a valid photo ID. Call 310-285-2151 for more information.
Parents or verified legal guardians may claim property on behalf of a juvenile. If you are claiming on behalf of an adult you may do so with verified written and signed authorization naming the authorized individual, along with a photocopy of a valid government issued photo ID of the owner.
Property that is turned in as found (with the exception of firearms) may be claimed by appointment at the Beverly Hills Police Department. If the owner is unknown or has not claimed the property, the person who turned it in at the Beverly Hills Police Department may claim it in accordance to California law. Citizens may file a claim with the City of Beverly Hills. Claim forms can be obtained from the City Clerk's Office at 455 N. Rexford Drive Room 290 Beverly Hills, CA 90210. You may also call the City Clerk's office at 310-285-2400 to request a claim form be mailed to you or click here.
Yes. All auction items are handled through auction company PropertyRoom.com.
Found property is held for 90 days and then disposed of in accordance with California law, which may include being sold by competitive bidding via public sale at PropertyRoom.com.
